Non-Woven Fabric Manufacturers' Association Joint Declaration] Declaration on Toxic Substances in Color Masks
Greetings to all of you!
Regarding the test results of the Consumer Council, I would like to thank the Consumer Council for their gatekeeping on non-woven masks and providing the public with an opportunity to recognize the color masks. At present, since there is no relevant standard for medical masks, the CNS15290 Textile Safety Code developed by the Bureau of Standardization and Inspection was first adopted for testing and the information published is for recommendation purposes, and the Non-Woven Fabrics and Medical Materials Association have clarified the situation on their websites and facebook here. If you have any suggestions, please let us know. Thank you!
1. The FDA has contacted the Consumer Council (CC) and stated that the claim that 30% of the masks have a protection efficiency lower than 80% is a misinterpretation of the regulatory requirement. The sampled medical masks belong to the first grade of general medical masks. According to CNS 14774, the bacterial filtration effect (non-submicron protection efficiency) should be greater than 95%, and only surgical masks are required to comply with the requirement of submicron protection efficiency (salt spray method) of at least 80%. It is suggested that CPSC should make appropriate corrections so as not to cause panic among consumers and disturbance to the trade.
2. Mask will have trace lead may be some color in the pigment part of the residual inorganic substances, VOC is the existence of multi-color printing on the mask of organic adhesives produced by a small amount of volatile organic compounds, non-woven masks can not be washed and can not be removed, but the amount of these VOC residues is very small, and is not included in the carcinogenic or allergic to the control of the process agent, the user does not have a specific harmful or dangerous.
3. The Non-Woven Fabric Association and the Medical Material Association also suggest that the Bureau of Standardization and Inspection (BSI) should add safety regulations to the standard for medical masks (CNS14774) and remind manufacturers to strictly control the manufacturing process and the selection of raw materials, and emphasize the safety of the physical design of the masks themselves in order to comply with the above mentioned safety regulations for medical masks, so as to ensure that the products do not jeopardize the physical and mental health of the consumers or cause harm to the quality of the living environment, and should be clearly marked on the packaging to protect the rights of consumers. To ensure that the products do not jeopardize the physical and mental health of the consumers and do not harm the quality of the living environment, and the requirements of the standards should be clearly marked on the packaging to protect the rights of the consumers.
