The national standard cited by CCF in this test is the same as that of the 82 colored non-medical masks recently sampled and tested by the Council, which is CNS 15290 "Code of Practice for Safety of Textile Products (General Requirements)".
The results of the tests on "free formaldehyde" and "certain aromatic amines derived from azo dyes" conducted by CCF are in compliance with the national standards and are consistent with the test results of this Council.

Although CPSC also detected 3 samples with lead content of 6~11 mg/ kg and 1 sample with nonylphenol and nonylphenol ethoxylate content exceeding 300 mg/ kg, all of them comply with CNS 15290 (lead content of surface coating of textiles for children under 12 years old shall not exceed 90 mg/ kg, and the total lead content of nonylphenol and nonylphenol ethoxylate content shall not exceed 1,000 mg/kg). kg).
The three items of "plasticizer" (not detected), "dye solubles" (not detected) and "volatile organic compounds" (some trace amounts) tested by the relevant Consumer Council are currently not covered by the relevant national standards, and the Bureau will incorporate them into the national standard for masks for reference.
Regarding the filtration efficiency of PM2.5, the Bureau has formulated the national standard CNS 15980 "Performance index and test method for anti-haze (PM2.5) masks", and has planned to include anti-haze masks into the scope of mandatory inspection of commodities, which is expected to be announced in June 110th.
In order to protect the safety of consumers, the Bureau will continue to handle the labeling, flow and quality management of masks, and conduct market purchase (sampling) and testing to protect the safety of consumers, if CNS 15290 detected harmful substances, will be dealt with in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, and up to 1.5 million dollars in fines.
Consumer Council's current testing of masks on the market and the recent testing by this bureau are both aimed at protecting the safety and health of consumers. Regarding the recommendation made by Consumer Council in the testing report that the competent authorities should set standards for the safety of mask materials as soon as possible, this bureau will invite the relevant authorities and the industry, government, and academia to work together to revise the national standards in the near future.
