Non-Woven Fabric Association joins hands with Medical Material Association to clear up concerns over color masks
The Non-Woven Fabrics Association and the Medical Material Association have released a brief explanation on their websites and facebook, hoping to clear consumers' doubts about the harmful substances detected in color masks on the market.
The Association pointed out that, regarding the report that 30% of the commercially available medical masks have a protection efficiency of less than 80%, in order to avoid consumer panic and industry harassment, we hereby assist in explaining that, because the medical masks sampled and tested in the report belong to the first level of general medical masks, according to the CNS 14774 specification, the bacterial filtration effect (non-sub-micron protection efficiency) needs to be greater than 95%, and only surgical masks need to meet the requirements of the submicron protection efficiency (salt spray method) of at least greater than 80%. Only surgical masks are required to meet the requirement of at least 80% sub-micron protection efficiency (salt spray method). As for the color particles, color inks and pigments in the transfer paste used for coloring masks, all of them are inorganic colorants that are not water-soluble, and it should be difficult to release carcinogenic azoaromatic amines. MIT masks available on the market meet the requirements of the CNS15290 safety standards for textile products, so their safety is not in jeopardy, and consumers should feel at ease to use them.
According to CNS15290 Textile Safety Code, the following hazardous items should comply with the safety ranges as shown in the table. Non-Woven Fabric Association / Provided by
The association said, color masks will have a trace of lead may be some of the pigments in the color system part of the residual inorganic substances, VOC is the existence of multi-color printing, the use of organic adhesives produced by a small amount of volatile organic compounds, non-woven masks can not be washed, so it can not be removed, but these VOC residue is very small in the safety value of the value of within, or even safer than the safety value of more safe.
The Non-Woven Fabrics Association and the Medical Materials Association have also requested the Bureau of Standardization and Inspection (BSI) to add safety regulations to the standard for medical masks (CNS14774). The Association will strengthen its efforts in reminding manufacturers to strictly control the manufacturing process and selection of raw materials, and to emphasize on the safety of the physical design of masks, in order to comply with the above mentioned safety regulations for medical masks, and to ensure that the products do not jeopardize the physical and mental health of the consumers or cause harm to the quality of the living environment, and to clearly mark the requirements of the standard on the packaging to protect the rights of consumers.
